Mystic rivers

I have always adored the proximity of water - not only because I was born hundreds of km away from the Black Sea... living in cities where water plays a role in everyday life is inspiring... I used to live in Konstanz, embraced by the Bodensee & the Alpes - the lake was enchanting, the view was addictive... the fog in autumn made it mystical and the sun in summer, invigorating ! The concerts by the lake, the local wine festival, the Seenachtsfest, with all the fireworks - the lake carried me away every time I let myself hypnotized by its deceiving surface... In Berlin we have a bit of that and a bit of Amsterdam, maybe... although no lake in Berlin has the might of the Bodensee... The first time I was in Amsterdam, I spent one day in the centre, taking it all in and saving grams of the excitement for later - I hurried to Rotterdam & Antwerpen, then to Belgium, Lille, Paris & Nancy - it was an adventure, as all my travels must be... Still, that feeling beared with me until my next "visit", 6 years later, with my beloved. Some cities would do me that favor - they preserve the emotion of the first encounter, striking the same chord every time I went back.
The Fisherinsel in Berlin & the historical port attracts me in a very unusual way... it reminds me of riverbank festivals and Italian summer feasts (le sagre della Calabria). And just as boats or ports, trains and train stations, these images reveal the promise of a voyage, of discoveries...
