How do you call a country where the government is preoccupied with emptying the treasury day by day, in a legal way - thanks to laws they pass in their own interest ?!!

I would call it institutionalized MAFIA - there is no better word for it.

It's not enough that ex Romanian MPs get paid as such for the rest of theirs lives !... (lifelong & general “praise” for their inefficiency, because they are entitled to this “prize” regardless of efforts or merits).

Now the leading party, PSD (the social-democratic party - however, only by name), has passed a new law ! By virtue of this “innovation”, the revenue of the former MPs is being increased based on the brutto salaries of the MPs in office, and the ones having won several times parliamentary seats will thus receive up to 3 brutto salaries monthly… nice and fair, right ???

If the country had reached levels of unbelievable prosperity thanks to the former & the current MPs, let's say their effort could be rewarded (on a moderate scale and only IF the budget granted it - which would be highly unlikely), but in the current situation ?... just a quick summary : the minimum wage for 2017 is brutto 1450 Lei (315 €) and netto 1065 Lei (230 €), considering 1 € = 4,5 €; there are serious problems in all sectors and corrupted politicians leaking resources everywhere...

And what does a former politician's BRAND NEW remuneration look like ?

1 mandate : 2.032 - 3.445 lei

2 mandates : 4.064 - 6.890 lei

3 mandates : 6.096 - 10.335 lei

Appalling panorama...

Given the fact that in our corrupted system, no MP abandons his seat after only one mandate, one can imagine the remuneration such an individual can get now without doing ANYTHING… And the ones in office get at least 5 times the minimum wage… again, with our doing ANYTHING but ruining everything the country has barely managed to achieve in the last almost 28 years since the coup dressed up & served as “Revolution” to the gullible masses. The entire political class and the current PSD government is therefore practising constant and professional sabotage… and they still have 3 years to go until the next elections… And the progressive destruction has already started: they also intend to eliminate the notion of ‘conflict of interests’ and decriminalize the civil servants’ attempt of abusing their position, plan to create one more National Investment Fund (this time called “Sovereign Investment Fund”), even more efficient than the existent one in making public money disappear.

Moreover, PSD has already changed the laws for appointing the management of one the intelligence services and make it depend not on the veto of the several national institutions, among which the Army & the Ministry of Defense, but only on the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, who is appointed by the Prime minister, representative of the most powerful party (PSD) in Parliament.

And these are only a part of their latest deeds… as for the president of the PSD, simultaneously the President of the Chamber of Representatives, Dragnea… he is a mafia boss in his home county, Teleorman, where he is the main & “hidden” shareholder of Tel Drum, controls the local business operations and the auctions for public projects, known for directing European & national funds right into his and his family's pockets, as well as entertaining “business” relations with corrupted Romanian millionaires doing business in Brazil.

And when the investigative journalists from Rise Project published proof of his wrongdoings, he ordered the Fiscal Authority to pay the guys a visit, trying to get them into trouble. Tough luck, the newsroom was clean, the “IRS” left empty handed… only now are the opposition parties thinking (only thinking, nota bene !!) of modifying a law permitting “incognito personas” the possession of an unlimited number of shares in companies (acțiuni nenominale la purtător)...

CONCLUSION:

Total chaos where the mafia reigns undisturbed… the people protested in February (when another law protecting the corrupted politicians was about to be passed), and actually managed to make the government drop the catastrophic initiative… But the PSD always comes up with new destructive initiatives, the ones I have mentioned above belong entirely to the last 2 weeks !!! The people protested again, nobody paid attention…

The whole world is moving forward, we are moving backwards… why have we been cursed with such politicians eaten up with insatiable greed ?... because of them the whole nation got the curse of Sisyphus... or better still, Manole’s curse (a Romanian legend)... the church he was building was being destroyed every night and he had to start rebuilding it every day all over again - in his case, a human sacrifice sufficed to lift God’s curse. In Romania’s case, human sacrifices have already been made - and obviously the wrong humans were sacrificed. I think it would ONLY work if our entire political class would be sacrificed...
